post world war ii changed japan economically, socially, & culturally. it was during this time the pan pan, or women of the night, culture emerged. to live, women entered prostitution. in some cases, they were forced by the government. the new pan pan culture led japan to a new approach towards sexuality. the picture here, taken by Yoshida Jun, represents said revolutionary approach and simultaneously exerts the desolate sentiment as shared by most persons in japan post world war ii.
